Community Aid
Suan Nok farm is situated in a remote area within the Golden Triangle. This region is home to displaced people who are the victims of large scale and systematic human rights abuse, carried out by the Burmese military. The farm serves some of these families and also several extremely poor hill tribe groups. Many fruit trees have been planted and three large fish ponds dug. Several different varieties of fruit and vegetables have been chosen in order to diversify the crops. We hope to model an integrated approach to show local people the benefits having a variety of products to market.
Besides being a model and providing training, the farm, and others like it, generates financial resources that are applied to smaller development/assistance projects for those in especially difficult circumstances in the surrounding communities.
Relief Aid
We also support recently displaced people by providing food and clothing packages, blankets, mosquito nets, oil and cooking pots. Where basic medical needs can be addressed in-situ these are provided, however in some cases it is necessary to provide transport to hospital and local clinics to secure more advanced medical help.
